The house is a large, elegant townhouse from 1890, situated in the middle of the historic centre of Jerez de la Frontera. The main house is on two floors and has a living-area of approx. 1000 sq. meters, of which more than 500 sq. meters can be rented.

From the main entrance you can walk directly into the house's open and roomy patio with many of the architectural details which are typical of Andalucian houses from this period. On hot day a shade will be pulled over the patio to keep direct sunlight out. And the patio is of course the place when one wants to relax with a glass of cold sherry after a long and busy day in the sun. The ground floor also offers two large whitewashed rooms furnished with traditional Spanish furniture in wrought iron.

A wide staircase in marble leads up to the first floor and a gallery that goes around the patio-area. Here you can relax in two lounges with comfortable furniture. Along the part of the house that faces away from Plaza San Marcos you will find four spacious bedrooms, each with it's own bathroom with tub or shower.

The first floor has elegant marble tiles and the walls are either whitewashed or painted in the traditionally Andalucian combination of white and light yellow.

One room we would like to mention in particular is situated on the short side of the house, with a view to the patio and the entrance. We call the room Galeria de la Riva, after the people we bought the house from; Doña Pilar og Don Pedro de la Riva. Here you can serve a candle-lit dinner for six persons in Andalucian elegance.

The main dining room covers an area of approx. 50 sq. meters. With it's fireplace, richly ornamented windows that opens up to the patio downstairs, with a height of 5.5 meters with walls painted in white an light yellow, this is a room that can be used for everything from a quick breakfast to a five course dinner.

The more than 40 sq. meter kitchen has tiled floor and walls. Here you find everything you need, from stove to microwave-oven, dishwasher, icebox and refrigerator, plus pots and pans, cups and glasses, plates and cutlery.

The stay in Casa Jerezana is based on self-service, but every 7th day our helper Maribel will change the linen on the beds, wash floors, dust the place and do other chores which she finds to be necessary. Maribel is married to Miguel, who is the caretaker of the house.
